High-Performing Teams: The Value of Data-Informed Decisions

As a leader, I always sought data to inform my decisions. Sometimes it was readily available; other times, it required digging. In critical cases, paying for data, like benchmarking information, was well worth it. Often, the data revealed insights that were different or counter to our beliefs. Even when data confirmed our suspicions, it was evidence to support our decisions.

Collecting and interrogating the data always proved immensely helpful.

This approach also applies to teamwork. Over the years, I used various team assessments, typically personality measures or style indicators. While they showed individual scores, they lacked insight into team dynamics and actionable changes. They didn’t provide crucial information about the team's performance or effectiveness.

Fortunately, there is an assessment that helps leaders make data-informed decisions about their teams. It offers benchmark data to understand a team's standing relative to similar teams and can be used to create a roadmap for improved dynamics and performance.

Like me, if you prefer data-informed decisions, consider our Team Assessment Survey (TAS). Instead of another offsite discussing personality profiles, why not focus on the key factors that will directly improve team performance? Using the TAS tells you where your team stands compared to others and helps them to design and create their collective future.

As a leader there are endless urgent tasks that compete for your attention. Optimizing your team, however, is among the most important. Imagine a team operating at 100%, highly motivated, engaged, and clear on their direction and goals. What might your boss, peers, or team be saying about you?

Having such a team is not just possible but highly probable. The TAS has helped over 3,500 teams worldwide become high-performing. It's been used to scale team effectiveness across organizations and is trusted by leading brands like Johnson & Johnson, Red Bull, Walmart, Nokia, Coca-Cola, 3M, Cargill, and McDonald’s.
